Metamorphosis Alpha Kick Starter!

So I blogged early this evening about 2 projects that were now in pdf production through Drive Thru Rpg & now this comes along just as fast. The new Metamorphosis Alpha Kickstarter! Kick start & Indie Go Go seem to be the wave of the future for rpg funding. To me its simply another grass roots sign of our hobby. The DYI attitude insures that we get quality over quantity.. Anyhow to say I'm excited about this is an understatement! Looks very nice!
Go Here to help support the wonderful efforts of these folks! Personally this game has been sitting on the shelf for far too long!

A half-naked barbarian warrior wanders the land with only his brawn, wits, and blade to keep him alive. A feline beast with glowing red eyes prowls the shadows, ready to fight or flee since she has only survived by making quick decisions and acting without hesitation. A living tree shambles from place to place after its original grove was burned, quiet and gentle until its inner rage is unleashed. Their land is a dangerous one, but also filled with tremendous rewards. Artifacts from the old times can be found for those determined enough to look, strong enough to take them from others, and clever enough to discover their secrets. There is safety in numbers … if you decide there is anyone worthy of trust. It is a world in which survival itself is no small victory, yet is never enough.
Something has been forgotten. If it cannot be remembered, perhaps it can be rediscovered.
There is a word. Its meaning is known but within it lies a secret. If understood, explored, controlled … the word could change everything.
Warden.

Metamorphosis Alpha

Metamorphosis Alpha was the very first science-fiction roleplaying game, written and designed by James M. Ward and published by TSR in 1976. It became the precursor and inspiration for other settings that included mutations, forgotten technology, and lost mysteries. Now Signal Fire Studios is prepared to relaunch Metamorphosis Alpha as a self-contained RPG with setting material by James M. Ward and a new set of rules designed by Jamie Chambers. The plan is to bring MA back with followup products, adventures, and keep it going as long as the fans enjoy our game and support us!

Who’s Doing This?

Signal Fire Studios is a new small-press game publishing company that combines proven experience, exciting new talent, and 21st century ideas. The Internet and social media are a big part of our marketing and social outreach, and we’ve come to realize Kickstarter is a fantastic tool to allow our friends, fans, and those who discover and like our ideas to help us produce exciting products and build our business.
This Kickstarter will be our very first RPG product to be sold through distribution (though our team has literally decades of game design and publishing experience). With your help, we can not only produce this game but are laying the foundation for future releases. The good news is that you only pay if the project is successfully funded. You can find our goal up in the top right corner. Our products will be sold through Publisher Services Inc. (PSI), a sales & fulfillment partner located just down the road from the Signal Fire offices, that represents some of the best-known brands in the industry and sells through multiple sales channels. www.pubservinc.com

What’s The Game?

The Metamorphosis Alpha Roleplaying Game is a fully-contained product, providing details for character creation, rules for play, referee (GM) advice, and a sample adventure. It’s currently projected as 160-page softcover book (8 3/8″ × 10 7/8") with a full-color cover with art by Jason Engle.
The rules? This is the very first product to feature the new System 26™ game engine, a dice-pool game that requires only 6-sided dice and is designed to be intuitive and engaging for fast-action. The Metamorphosis Alpha incarnation of the game system will highlight exploration, combat, and (of course) mutant powers. Character creation can take as little as ten minutes, and the rules are a snap for beginners to start playing right away!

What Will The Backers Get?

Starting at only ten bucks you get an eBook/PDF version of our game—something that every backer of that level or higher gets as soon as this project is successfully funded! For twenty-five dollars you will receive both the PDF and physical book version of the game. At higher levels backers can get posters, t-shirts, a collector's edition of the book, and even offer up content that will go in the final game!

Our Stretch Goals

With more cash to work with we can print more in the initial run of the game, keeping it in stock longer through game retailers, at conventions, and online. If we make it even higher …
If we raise $12,500 we will print and publish a full-color poster that includes artwork and deckplans of the Starship Warden by Jeff Carlisle (well known for his Star Wars art).
If we raise $15,000 we will publish a 24-page adventure that provides a good starting point for a Metamorphosis Alpha campaign.
If we raise $20,000 we will publish the comprehensive Starship WardenSourcebook as the ideal companion product to the core Metamorphosis Alpha Roleplaying Game book.

How Does Kickstarter Work?

Here’s the short version: For one month anyone can make pledges for this project, starting at $1 and going up as high as you’re willing. Then you can select a reward package equal to or less than the amount of your pledge. You can pledge more than a reward level if you choose, which is something that international backers will need to do to cover shipping. Your credit card won’t be charged until the project is funded, so you can adjust or cancel your pledge up until the deadline. Once the project is funded we’ll proceed printing our game and delivering on the promised rewards. And our company will be off to a great start!
Our rewards will be shipped out by our fulfillment company (PSI), as well as doing some of the work ourselves at the Signal Fire Studios offices.

I live outside the USA. Do I need to pay extra?

We wish that shipping to other countries didn’t make things more expensive, but it does raise the cost a bit. Canada/Mexico Backers: Please add $8 to your pledge to cover the additional cost of shipping your rewards. Overseas Backers: Please add $15.
