Actual Play - The Space Yards & Beyond


The party was still sort of shopping when they became aware of getting hassled by credit commercial droids. These mini eye robots provided to be more then they seemed when more of them started hassling the party's fighter. The little floating info-mercials proved to be a pain in the ass when they (6 of them) opened up with twin mounted stunners. The character was in power armor but it still turned out to be a pain in the ass.
They proved so annoying that the character detonated an EM grenade but not before shutting down his armor.  He managed to take out five of them.
Meanwhile the one of the other party members was shopping when after a quick roll on the D30 ship yard encounter chart netted me one Lich priest in robes & 2 astronaut bodyguards armed with space swords. The astronaut  of the party noticed the lich picking up a strangely modified weapon from the shop owner.
Meanwhile there was a commotion outside & there was a fight between the body guards & a beauty dressed in astronaut robes. The beauty falls blood oozing from her arm. The other two close in on her & only a quick save from our hero saves her before the two carry her off. A quick check over reveals that she has a tracking dart embedded in her arm & a hided disintergrator in her robes on an arm sheath.
The one twin astronauts each dressed in 80s orange robes tries using the voice on our hero. He saves & the two reach for their space swords. One dex roll later one of them is dust. He gives the other one 5 seconds to back off. There's a sound like wind, then the lich & his body guard are gone.
Meanwhile my fighter is playing The Most Dangerous Game throughout the station picking off bounty hunters one by one. This goes on for 15 minutes, his teammates are up grading the weapons on the ship.
 The lady reveals more secrets as our astronaut pilot goes to a party at the guild of Norstroms -the local fringe  mining clan whose name echos back before the Atomic Wars. They get searched for weapons & no one notices anything wrong. The player meets several Npcs until he comes across the sweaty fat missionary & his warrior nun assistant. They take an intense in  him. The assistant has several words concerning the state of his soul & with a quick roll he uses empathy to overload her mind.
The player takes her to a back room & does a search which reveals a bunch of implanted surrvalence equipment & a holonet connected directly into the data net of the Human Empire's secret police.  Her implants have several nasty surprises including a poison needle, a defense system, & her handler.
Bob at this point is very cautious as he finds out that the cute girl/missionary/slash secret police spy is also a modified man. A surgically modified man implanted with the latest Human Empire technology. Bob uses a quickly downloaded holoporn to give the empire something to watch after he collects all of the data from her.
  The Npc appears in a bunch of security videos & data. Her background is sketchy at best. She has been seeing several other people at the party.
 Meanwhile one of the other players finds a bounty hunter at a cyber/doc shop & finds himself confronted with a cybernetic nightmare of a surgeon whose entire body scales a entire room. She is carefully putting the entire right side of the bounty hunter back together. Several rolls later he is able to down load a holo scan from the hunter. Seems as though the Npc astronaut went toe to toe with the bounty hunter & left him alive.. barely. A broken jaw, several ribs, & a missing arm are all of the work of a strangely armored glove  with a built in plasma blade & antique space sword.
Outside Bob's astronaut speaks with her & finds out that she is part of a fallen house whose champion had disappeared over 200 years ago. The House of Leevi were the original owners of the Space Yards but lost everything in a gambling scheme 50 years ago. Norstrom is playing a dangerous game but using salvage crews  cut up the Empire's cruisers after it pays pirates to ambush them. The players are approached about the salvage deal at the party.
Bob & the Npc astronaut part ways but he follows at a safe distance to a decrept part of the space yards. The astronaut enters an abandon store front & isn't seen again. Bob wants to locate a spy eye for sale & runs across a slugoid with a number of contraband items for sale. A bad die roll & one of his items kills him! Bob hears the ringing of a data pad & another slugoid is there. There is an exchange between both slugs as Bob props up the body & his brother in law questions if he's high again.
It seems that there is a case of 22 lightning rifles for delivery & he's got to meet an important client in the morning. After a crazy role play exchange the brother in law is told that the smuggler is dead.. The brother in law asks the player if he wants to make some fast money. All he has to do is drive space ship A with said lightning rifles to planet B. Right now he's got to meet the client in 20 minutes around the corner.
 Bob of course goes around the corner & sees its the NPC. There is a brief exchange & she reveals that her oppressed planet is buying weapons from the Syndicate! She also drops rumors of there being a mysterious Cartel that has harnessed the power of the ancient factory ships & destroying Spocery Guild interests. They agree to meet in the morning at a "safe" location!
